CYC/TYC Friendship Race

The fifth annual CYC/TYC Friendship Race was held once again the third Saturday in June. TYC was responsible for race committee duties this year true to form, at about an hour before the 12:30 start one committee member went out on the deck, wet his finger and stuck it in the air to figure out what course to run. Turns out it was a beautiful day for a sail out into the slot. The race was run in two divisions, spinnaker and non-spinnaker and we sent the spinnaker boats on a 10.6 mile course to Blackhaller and thereabouts while the non-spinnaker boats did 7.5 miles in the same direction.
Total attendance was 26 boats, with 14 from CYC and 12 from TYC. Despite a strong showing from CYC boats at the top of the two divisions (see below), TYC edged a narrow victory (by two tenths of a point) due to a more consistent performance. TYC has now won three of the five contests, and they have all been razor close like this one. Here are the top CYC finishers: Spinnaker: 1-- Psycho Puppy, Dave Holscher; 2-- Abigale Morgan, Ron Kell
Non-Spinnaker: 1-- Basic Instinct, Jan Borjeson; 2-- Absolute, Steve Schneider; 3-- Chica, Ted Goldbeck; 4-Tension ll, John Noteboom.
