Final Countdown!

By: Doug Owen

At this point in my life, I seem to be constantly amazed at how quickly time passes; we live around the corner from a high school that is about to hold graduation ceremonies, and it seems like only a few weeks ago was the first day of school! It also surprises me how quickly 120 days, basically four months, can pass. When the Board of Directors and the Membership Committee put together the incentive drive for new members, we structured it around the possibility of 120 new members in 120 days, to celebrate CYC's 120th Anniversary. The drive began on March 16th (see, doesn't that seem like a long time ago?) and continues until July 13th...which, it seems, isn't very far away!

By the number of applications that have been coming in, and the number of interviews that the Membership Committee has conducted, and the number of interviews yet to be scheduled, I'd say that things are going quite well. Somewhat slower than hoped for, but quite a few members have taken this opportunity to bring friends and associates into the CYC family.

Looking at the calendar, as you read this there is less than a month left to take advantage of, for a Regular/Regular Spousal new member, a $2,000 savings. Let me suggest that if a 50% savings representing $2000 were at a department store, I know a lot of people (better left unnamed for my personal safety) who would be rushing to get thereā€¦.and that's if it were only for one day!

Okay, friends and fellow members, you get the idea; it is truly wonderful and revitalizing to see quite a few new bright faces around the Club, new members who will contribute to our overall success in many areas in the future, as yet to be determined. Now is the time to do your part to make this opportunity a success.

Think about it one more time; someone that you would enjoy spending time with at the Club, going on cruises with, racing with, having dinner with, spending Opening Day with...who is not yet a member. Wouldn't it be nice to compliment that friend by saying, "You know, I've been thinking...our Club is trying to attract some new members by cutting the initiation fees in half, and I think you'd really enjoy being a part of this. I know I'd enjoy having you ther..."

As to those new members who will contribute to our success in the future? The last time we ran a membership drive, we got our Commodore, John Warren! Need I say more?
