Race News

On July 28, Easter Seals of Northern California hosted a wonderful Day on the Bay for disabled adults and children. Under the direction of Jaclyn Reinheart, president of Easter Seals of Northern California, Herb Meyer of CYC, Dawn Riley of SFYC, and BAADS (Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors), many were introduced to the traditions of the sea. A wonderful opportunity was provided for many to get out on the bay and enjoy a ride on a sailboat or motorboat for their first time! Demonstrations were given to show how disabled persons could become involved in sailing and racing. Special thanks are in order for all of our CYC members who provided the use of their boats and their special kindness to make this event a great success.
The Friday Night Regattas and going well and we continue to see new boats entering the races. Remember, only a few more Friday Nights left until September 7. The evenings have been beautiful. So, get out there and race or call and lend a hand with the race committee.
We also have a few more races coming up for which we need extra help on the race committee. On September 22 & 23 we have the Drakes Bay Race for which we need volunteers to help start the race in the morning of the 22nd and finish the race on the afternoon of the 23rd. This will be done off the race deck at the St. Francis Yacht Club.
We also need help on September 28, 29 &30 for the Triton Nationals. We really need someone to donate the use of their boat to use as a committee boat for this event. Finally, on October 20 we have the Ross Wood Regatta at CYC. Please be sure to make this date on your calendar. We want to see all our stalwart racers as well as enthusiastic fans come out to race and cheer on your favorites! This event is not to be missed. We will be handing out the last of the special trophies we had for this year.
