CYC Cruising Season Gets Enthusiastic Kick-Off
By Dan Carrico, Cruising Fleet Captain
Over 40 cruise leaders and cruisers came to present and hear about destinations and plans for this years cruises. Co-incident with the first day of spring, everyone seemed feverish to get underway. While munching on tasty appetizers and shrimp, cruisers heard presentations from cruise leaders, asked questions and shared their support for what promises to be some very memorable times ahead.
Our first two cruises to the Pt. San Pablo and Coyote Point Yacht Clubs were described in detail by Cruise Leaders Bill and Chris Canada and Teresa and Clay Prescott. As if to set the bar for this years cruises, both will feature great meals and after-dinner music and dancing. As this is written, Pt. San Pablo is history, having been capably handled by the Canadas, providing cruisers with an evening of of French cuisine and a live band. It was spectacular!
Not to be outdone, first timers Prescotts leading the April Coyote Point cruise have organized a Roundup featuring an old fashioned BBQ dinner and a square dance party complete with a four piece band and caller - no experience necessary! Git out yer best cowboy duds cause there will be prizes, so yall come! More details will follow in a flyer and are on the signup board at the club. The list is already well subscribed. Dont wait, sign up.
In a last minute substitution, David Schwartz graciously agreed to lead our September cruise from his beautiful Lady Hawke. In a stroke of genius (or was it luxury) he proposed a cruise to the beautiful Ritz Carleton in Half Moon Bay! A Corinthian first for sure. Spa anyone?
For the land cruisers in the club, we want you too! Cruise leaders will research and provide information on nearby hotel accommodations, often with a group rate. So dont be left behind!
I cant tell you how excited I am about this years team of cruise leaders and my anticipation of the great job they will do. A lot of work goes into planning and preparing our cruises and they certainly deserve our sincere thanks. Happy cruising!
