Racing
The Race Committee conducted a YRA-ODCA regatta and a Passport regatta on August 12th. The R.C. and ten Corinthian volunteers: Mark Thompson, John Campi, Anita Dillon, Matt and Abigail Gorton, Leigh Guinn, Mike Hillman, Marie Jorajuria and Joe McKuskie all took duties. For the Passport Regatta, two committee members Joe McKuskie and John Campi remained on shore to start the Passport regatta and later rejoined the main committee on the boat. This was the very first race committee for them and they did great! The race committee boat was a Beneteau 46 graciously provided by member, Jim Barnett. Thanks are due also to his Captain Wally Boz.
All races went off well and the committee had a blast. We had to do some juggling of starting times for some of the two race fleets, but it went well thanks to the P.R.O. Mark Thompson. Thanks to all who helped. The Clubs next YRA races are Sept. 9th and volunteers are welcome. For anyone who hasnt run a race yet, you will discover that it is a fun way of giving service to your club.
We all want to congratulate Mike Eagan for his successful Pacific Cup race in which he finished fourth in a division of ten boats on his J-105, Sabertooth. Way to go, Mike!
Cruising
In July, Ron and Torild Roberts for the second consecutive year led our Half Moon Bay Cruise. Four hardy crews made it down aboard Alizé, Cozy Lee, Sea Ghost and Sharona. For many of the crew it was rough going down, but surprisingly smooth coming home. We had 21 people including a bevy of our favorite land cruisers. Ron and Torild did a great job once more and again conducted a great wine tasting aboard Eric and Elaines cozy Cozy Lee. All had a great time.
In August, we were led by Bill and Nancy Giachino to an absolutely memorable cruise to the Vallejo Yacht Club, coinciding with that citys Jazz Festival. We were treated to first class hospitality by everyone there. The Corinthian fleet was well accommodated too, with many tied stern-to right at the clubhouse. Bill and Nancy organized a fantastic pot luck dinner on the deck and over 72 Corinthians and guests partook. Kay Rudiger brought many of her seminar graduates to join in and they were welcome.
We were also there with the Ebony Yacht Club which had booked the Beverly Stoval Blues Band that provided music for dancing. Talk about gettin down! After, late night revelry ensued back on the cruise flagship, Always Home thanks to the unending (or bottomless?) hospitality of Bill and Nancy. Thank you both from everyone for an unforgettably good time. And, as if to crown the weekend, San Pablo Bay was benign.
We next cruise to Coyote Point on Saturday September 9th , led by Sandra and Richard Soloman and mark the weekend of October 7th for Tinsley Island, led by Bill Stucky.
