Vice Commodore's Comments

By Dan Carrico

It's the time of year when new committees get put together, and we are fortunate to have the following members serving on our new House Committee; in alphabetical order they are: Peter Birnbaum*, Bettina Bengtsson-Crowe*, Beverly Dunn, Andrea Salter-Owen*, Sandra Solomon, Bill Stucky and Mary Ellen Wetlesen (*returning members).

Preparations are underway to publish the Club's 2001 Member Directory. To that end, if you have any information, which has changed since last year's edition, please contact Frances Ramage at the Club office with your information. We are making a special effort this year to include everyone's e-mail addresses, so please either let her know or you can also enter or update them on our web site a là Bruce Powell. In addition to its desire to generally well manage the house affairs of the Club, at its first meeting the House Committee has set several goals for 2001, some specific and some overarching. Some of these are: * The continued enhancement of our relationship with the Corinthian Catering Company, (CCI). This has been on a great trend and we look forward to it continuing. Regular, informal meetings with CCI between our General Manager, Ingo Schreiber and myself will be the rule. Your House Committee and the Catering Company are very interested in any aspect of your dining experiences and would like to hear from you. In case you didn't know it, comment forms are available at the Maitre' D station. Periodically we will also distribute them to tables.

* Expanding the selection and quality of our wine list. With the help of our talented bar manager, John Guzi, many of you will be pleased to hear that we will be adding to our wine list. Look for new selections in January. Throughout the year we will monitor and modify as appropriate. · Increasing the availability of the Club's facilities and services to its members. In the same manner as last year with the introduction of the popular Friday Lunches, we will encourage members to consider weekday usage of the Clubhouse for business or other social uses such as luncheons or meetings. Please direct any requests of this nature to our General Manager, Ingo Schreiber.

Mary Anne Bogue, and her hard-working Entertainment Committee are planning absolutely fabulous events for us this year. Check the TELLTALE for event calendar.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to both our CYC staff and CCI employees for the high level of effort and the personalized service they provide for us throughout the year, so please remember our CYC staff this holiday season in your contributions to their yearly bonuses.
