Commodores Column

What a wonderful Opening Day on the Bay! We really must be blessed. After a week of rain with more predicted the Gods surely smiled upon us to grant us the beauty of such a wonderful day! Perhaps it had something to do with the Corinthians special relationship with the higher powers though our tradition of The Blessing of the Pleasure Craft. Thanks to Staff Commodore Charlie White and his wife Gini, we celebrated our 40th anniversary of this event. Thanks to our Opening Day Committee Chair, Staff Commodore Diana Fischer, Master of Ceremonies, Richard Solomon, the Opening Day Committee, the CYC Mens Chorus and our CYC staff, everything went smoothly and it was truly an inspirational day!
As part of our Opening Day Tradition we honor those members who have achieved Life Member Status. This year Staff Commodore John Colver became our newest Life Member. Congratulations and thank you so much for all your many devoted years to the club. Also thanks to Rosalind Colver for her beautiful singing of our National Anthem. We still need some volunteers to help catalog the many pictures, paintings, trophies and other artifacts at the club. Please contact Staff Commodore Richard Slottow or Club Treasurer Claude Bishop if you can help. Richard has been doing much of this work himself and could really use some help. It wont require a lot of time and the hours are flexible. Please help us preserve our history and traditions.
Easter Brunch was another exceptional day at the club. It was a special day for the many wonderful children at the club. To see them all dressed up, smiling and laughing. What a special treat! Thanks so much to Sharon Barr, the Corinthian Women who sponsored this event, Andre and Barbara Klein and a special thanks to our Beautiful Big White Easter Bunny, Paula Hansson.
