Meet the New "Kids" on the Dock

By Maryellen Wetlesen

In keeping with the Corinthian spirit of friendliness and making new members feel welcome, let's get to know some more of the new kids on the dock by asking a few questions. First up were Jamie Staude and Danielle Bartoni.

What would you like your fellow Corinthian Yacht Club members to know about you? Jamie and I have lived in Tiburon about two years, and have always wondered what all the laughter and commotion was about at the end of Main Street--and now we know! We are so happy and honored to be a part of the fun and camaraderie down at the CYC!

We are also extremely lucky that all the pieces have fallen into place---Jamie crewing in the summer while in the meantime, getting engaged which also led to booking our wedding reception at the at the Club!

Use three adjectives to describe your interest in boating and explain your boating background?

Jamie: Fired-up, ready, and a superb grinder! Crewed all summer long and ready to do it again this spring. Danielle: Curious, excited, and anxious to learn more about sailing.

Why did you choose the Corinthian? Actually, the Corinthian chose us -- it was the friendly, sincere, fun-loving nature of the CYC members that opened the door to our sailing adventures and joining the Club!

Would you like to sail, race, or cruise with other CYC members? Of course, sign us up!

Now for Robert Massey

What would you like your fellow Corinthian Yacht Club members to know about you? Single male with job and boat. Describe your interest in boating and explain your boating background?

From my perspective, sailing is all about quality time with friends, working together as a team, out on the water. Whether your time is spent cruising, racing, or even on maintenance, it is a great way to decompress from the pressures of work and get to know people. I am relatively new to sailing, but find myself wanting to spend more and more time out on the water. Even when the weather gets rough, it is great how the challenge and focus on survival puts the rest of life into perspective when you get home.

Why did you choose the Corinthian?

I have been a member of another club for a couple years. Last January, I crewed on a boat in the mid-winter series and had a blast. I was very impressed by the friendly nature of everyone back at the Club and the consistent interest in boating. I felt very welcome and wanted to become part of the Club. Also, the parties are great. It would be great to race and Cruise with other CYC members.

In the next issue we'll find out more about recent members James Greene of Carmel (December 2004 -Regular) and James & Lynne Smith of Belvedere (January 2005 -Regular).
