Club Managers Report
by Ingo Schreiber
Words can barely describe my amazement at how fast a whirlwind 10 months have blown over since I joined the staff. Leslie and I continue to enjoy our stay here and explore on my days off the magnificent surroundings the northern Bay Area is so richly endowed with. This is really a very special place and includes your Club.
Through John Colvers kind assistance, we have since January reciprocity arrangements with the Little Ship Club in London, England, whose Clubhouse is located in the heart of London, not far from Black Friars Bridge on Upper Thames Street. The Club has a number of Guest Rooms available for visitors, which cost a fraction of any London Hotel room, however it will require advance notice and of course an introduction.
The Opening Day activities including those surrounding the visit of the sail training tall ship, Dewaruci to SFYC, were exciting and stimulating. To sail under the Golden Gate Bridge into the Bay and standing aloft in one of the ships spars has got to be the experience of a lifetime. Special thanks must go to the Corinthian shore boat operators, Armando, Hans, Jim and Mark for their relentless efforts in shuttling people and provisions back and forth.
Construction activities progress and the new Bar-storage replacing the old Termite Shed (does anyone miss it?) is almost complete. The temporary storage facility on the Pelican Grill Deck also known as Peter Birnbaums Nightmare is ready to be dismantled. Anybody interested in purchasing a slightly used storage shed? We have a silent auction on. Closing date: July 14th, Bastille Day.
