Race News

The Scandinavian Regatta on March 24 was a great success. Karin Dilou did a wonderful job of organizing the regatta. Afterwards there was a dinner/dance with a fantastic band. For those of you who turned out for the race, please be sure to let Karin know how well she did. For those of you who didn’t make it, better luck next year.

The Angel Island Cup Regatta went off without a hitch. The wind gods were with us this year and everyone was able to make it around the Island. Yeni Wong, of the Save the Angel Island League (SAIL), has asked the Corinthian to host the race again next year. She has also asked us to keep their perpetual trophy in our display case. So, when you see the blue glass trophy in the display case, you’ll know it’s the Angel Island Cup Regatta Trophy. For the curious, its supposed to be a jelly-fish. Although some prefer Dan Carrico’s interpretation better: “a punch bowl on acid”.

The Friday Night Regatta is off to a fabulous start. We have 79 boats entered. The new race program is working well. So, when you get back to the club after the race, don’t spend too much time down at your boat. We will usually announce the results within 15 minutes of the last finisher.

We still need some more help for the Race Committee. We could really use the help of someone with a large power boat that we could use for the ODCA races in June, August and September. We also need some more people to help run the Friday Night Races. Please let us know if you’re available to help out.
