Vice Commodore's Notes
by Dan Carrico
All Corinthian sailors! The Second Annual CYC/TYC Friendship Regatta will be held Saturday, June 16th. This is the "team trophy" fun affair where CYC sailors are pitted against Tiburon Yacht Club's fleet, and the way it is so hotly contested you'd think it was Mark Anthony's Egyptian armada against Julius Caesar's fleet all over again! The losing crews will not be put to death but instead return to a great party at the Corinthian. How about that?
Scoring will be on PHRF handicaps and the beautiful 1811 perpetual team trophy will go to the club with the highest total score divided by the number of boats per club. Individual class trophies are awarded as well. Last year, TYC had 19 boats entered and CYC had 12 and alas, TYC prevailed.
We don't want that to happen again do we? Make your plans and sign up at the club bulletin board. Let's all turn out. All members are welcome to join in the festivities or help out. Contact Harry Blake Regatta Chairman for more details - 435-6285.
The Master Mariner's Annual Wooden Boat Show is again being held at the Corinthian. This year, the date is Sunday, June 24th. If you haven't attended previously, it's a great chance to see and board some wonderful boats lovingly cared for that have sailed in from the pages of San Francisco Bay's maritime history. Entrance is free to Corinthian members.
Dining room reservations please! As you may have noticed, due to the popularity of Friday evenings and Chef Ian and his crew's great food, it is virtually impossible to get a walk-in table at a decent hour. What you may not be aware of, however, are the benefits of reservations for Saturday and Sunday evenings as well. Aside from assuring you and your party of a prime table at your chosen time, your reservations greatly assist the galley crew in ordering and menu planning. To help assure adequate supplies, especially of fresh fish (delivered Thursdays and Saturdays), please help Chef Ian bv thinking to reserve ahead whenever possible.
