Race News

by Ron Roberts

On June 23 the Master Mariners held their annual show at CYC. It was a tremendous success with more participants than ever. There were a total of 1265 guests altogether. This included about 150 Corinthians, 150 children and 50 members from SFYC. Special thanks are in order for all the berth occupants who moved their boats. Special thanks are also in order for the Corinthians who donated their time and efforts to make the event a big success: Jim Snow, Bill Giachino, Randll Von Wedel, Andrea Salter-Owens, Duane Kime, Larkin Kime, Joe McKuskie, Hans Roeben, Cliff Donoho, Dan Carrico and Matthew Gorton. Also, Club employees: Ingo Schreiber, Hans Anderson, Frances Ramage and John Guzzy. And thanks to Marshall Appleton, Commodore of SFYC who allowed us to dock some of our boats at their facility during the show.

On June 16 at lot of friendship was shared between CYC and TYC. 31 Boats showed up for the CYC/TYC Friendship Regatta. Joy Ride of TYC took the honors in the spinnaker division and John Nooteboom of CYC came in first for the non-spinnaker division. Altogether, CYC finished 5 boats within the top 6 racers. Well done! Later, over 100 of the sailors had dinner together. Another wonderful day was had by all. Special thanks to Harry Blake and crew for running the race.

The first half of the Friday Night Regatta has been completed and the trophy presentation was made last Friday, June 22. Now, the Summer Series is underway. Over 100 boats have entered. Racers and Race Committee alike are having lots of fun. Please continue to call and let us know if you can help with the race committee. Come by and join us if you can.
