The Corinthian Women

by Nancy Giachino

The regular monthly meeting of the Corinthian Women took place on Wednesday, June 13th. Acting President Karen Gilbert presided over the meeting, while Esther Lerner Carrico enjoyed a wonderful and much deserved vacation in Italy.

In last month’s Telltale we included the dates and times for CPR classes. Due to space limitations, the schedule has been changed. Classes will now be held on Saturday mornings rather than on Thursdays, as previously noted. Proposed dates are July 28, September 22, and October 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Minimum enrollment is 10 students per class with a maximum of 15 per class. At the conclusion of each class, participants will receive a formal certification.

Since safety can never be over-emphasized on the Bay, you may want to join fellow Corinthians in helping to keep our boating activities CPR safe. Keep in mind these classes are designed for individuals who have had CPR training more than two years ago, as well as for first time students.

We are still looking for fabulous recipes for the Corinthian Cookbook! If you have a special family recipe and would be willing to share it with other Corinthians, please e-mail it to Sharon Barr at marshbarr@yahoo.

The annual Eggnog Party is famous for the many delicious and unique dishes provided by members. You may want to contribute your favorite recipe from this event to our cookbook. We are looking for appetizers, soups, salads, main entrees, as well as desserts. We hope to offer the books for sale before the Holidays.

This year the Corinthian women are offering sailing scholarships totaling $500.00. Applications are now being accepted. The age eligibility for applicants is 9 to 15 years.

Just a reminder to all – the annual Clam Bake will be held at the Club on August 4. This is an event you will not want to miss!! Volunteers who can help with decorating should be at the Club by 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served while we decorate. If you haven’t had the experience of decorating with the Corinthian Women, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. The buffet is from 6-8 p.m. and entertainment begins at 6 p.m.

The next TCW meeting will be held on August 8 on the vessel Always Home located in slip A-8.

We hope you will plan to attend.
