Entertainment

by Esther Lerner-Carrico

Times are good at the Corinthian Yacht Club. Our membership has a good sense of camaraderie and cooperative spirit. As a result our events provide a great source of entertainment and fun. In March the Academy Awards party was elegant and exciting as the participants competed for the prize for the most correct Oscar winners while sipping champagne and tasting caviar.

Thank you to Paula Hansson for donating the prize from her Bang and Olufsen store, a high tech telephone. Sandra Solomon gave her touch of class in decorating the tables. Ingo Schreiber did a great job of finding the big screen T.V. which worked just great. Thank you Ingo. This confirmed that we could have dinner and movie nights at the club in the future.

How about a showing of the nautical comedy “Captain Ron” along with Carribean food? Let me know if this would appeal to the membership and I will try to make it happen.

Upcoming is the Mother’s Day brunch on May 12, 2002 expertly planned by Marj Bundschuh. Laurel Baudendistel is your hostess for the Father’s Day brunch on June 16, 2002. Bill Canada and Harry Blake have agreed to perform with their jazz group for Father’s Day. Thank you Marj and Laurel for helping to host these very important events.

How about all the talent at our club and the generosity of our membership in sharing their multiple talents with fellow Corinthians? Thank you Bill Canada, Harry Blake and the members of the jazz group who have been delighting us with melodic numbers while we dine at our club. The Jazz Nights have become extremely popular as the word has gotten out. Be sure to attend the next one on May 11, 2002 starting at 6:30 when we celebrate May birthdays including your Commodore. Join us to toast him, Ed Fischer, Mark Thompson and others. Birthday cake will be served courtesy of CCI. This was a nice touch on our April Jazz Night/Corinthian birthday celebration. Make your reservations soon as this may be a sell out.

Jackie Taylor is another tireless contributor to our club entertainment. The Corinthian Men’s Chorus has become dear to our hearts thanks to Jackie’s efforts and our chorus members.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. Jackie has scheduled an evening for all potential participants of the Cabaret scheduled for November 2, 2002 to share with her what they would like to perform. Please plan to attend if you are interested in being in the show. Two years ago the show was a smashing success. We look forward to another show full of surprises! It was a great time being in the show.

We can always use more volunteers for Entertainment Committee so let me know if any of you out there are interested.
