Vice Commodore’s Column

By Ron Roberts

The House Committee is continuing its work on the wine list. So far this year we added two new Zinfandels, Scheutz-Oles and Kenwood. We added two new Chardonnays, Calistoga Cellars and Beringer. This month we added two new Cabernets, Dry Creek and Chateau St. Michelle. Watch for them soon. Also, watch for Friday and Saturday Night Wine Specials. We will try and offer new wines by the glass on these nights only.

On Friday May 3 we will begin our Friday Luncheon service. We plan on having the Friday Lunches until the end of September. Be sure to let the House Committee know if you enjoy them. If there is enough attendance, we will try and continue though the end of October.

I am pleased to report that the special event dinners have been well attended. If you haven’t been to one of the Jazz Nights, give yourself a treat and attend one soon. When doing so, please try and make your reservations in advance so we can have enough staff in the dining room. Unfortunately, when we only have a few reservations and many show up at the last minute it is impossible to get extra help. Therefore, if you want to ensure that we have good service in the dining room, please make your reservations in advance for all events.

The next two Jazz Nights will be on May 11 and June 15. Remember: good food, good music, good friends and dancing. You can hardly find this kind of entertainment, but we have it right here at the Corinthian!

The next special dinner will be the Seafood Extravaganza on Saturday, June 2. This will be an advance reservation only event. Please sign up for this early as it is expected to sell out.
