The 118th Annual Cooks and Waiters Dinner

By: Dan Carrico

Avast! Every Man-Jack one of you lubbers! The brotherhood of Cooks and Waiters Union Local #23 has noted that your yearly union dues are in danger of being declared overdue! To keep in good standing with the boys, you must pay them by Saturday, February 21st at the next union hall meetin'.

Yep, you guessed it! The 118th Annual Cooks and Waiters Dinner will be held Saturday, February 21st (later this year due to club construction). This all men's tradition is one of the oldest in the club*. It is made up of men from "new" 25 year-old cabin boys to 85 year-old brass with decades of club tradition under their keels! It's a full day and evening of ...well, just guy fun. This year's price is $65 (same as last two years) and includes all food, drinks and entertainment.

The club bar only will be open for the evening of Friday, February 20th. No dinner is served. The clubhouse and upper deck will be closed to all but attendees for all of Saturday and Sunday until noon. Members are encouraged to bring adult male guests. Please call the club office to reserve your place at the table. Anyone interested in berthing can register his request with the club office, but hurry, berthing is limited!

This year promises to be great, so come ready for some work and a hoot'n good time with your buddies! If you haven't been to one yet, just ask one of the guys!

* On the subject of the correct age of the Cooks and Waiters dinner: Like many Corinthian traditions, early records are sketchy and much is folklore. Generations learned it by these numbers and we'll stick with em! Right boys?

If you missed out and a didn't get an official tee shirt with the logo (above), there are still a few left...contact the Club Office to get yours -- ed.
