Rechristening of Panache
by Bruce Powell
Will Deady and friends called Latitude 38 for instructions on rechristening his Sabre 36 sloop. This was a two-part process. First there was the de-naming ceremony, where Tim Jones here read the incantations on deck in his foulies to give the demons 14-day notice that their lease was up. Then the boat had to sit a while to get it well aired out of every last lingering ghost. Latitude 38 didnt say for how long, so Will waited two weeks to be on the safe side.
The Christening ceremony then followed, conducted by a priest. With two swings, Wills friend Dawn broke the champagne over the bow, making the boats new moniker official: Panache.
