What a fabulous time we had at CYC’s 101st Clambake! Thank you Beverly Dunn, for chairing. You really outdid even your past successes. Thank you to our Flag, Board of Directors, House Committee members and many CYC mainstays who served as greeters, shuckers, jambalaya chefs, grill chefs and lobster killers. Chef Ian, Jerry, Joe, Leila and everybody on the CCI staff were absolutely the best. It wouldn’t have been possible without you. Also I want to commend the marvelous job done by our CYC staff.

To put a twist on this years’ Clambake and to get folks shaking their tail feathers, we had great Cajun music provided by the Creole Belles. They were such a hit that we passed a hat around and talked them into playing another set! This Clambake was still going strong at midnight when we relented to let Vince go home. Éttoufé!

Bastille Day was another event de la celebrité locales with a sold out crowd. To celebrate the storming of the Bastille and French independence we sang, toasted and ate a marvelous meal of cassoulet and cheeses.

We were entertained by a tour de force énsemble of Collette Clowes, Bruce and Pascale Powell, Jackie Taylor the Corinthian Men’s Chorus et moi. It was truly a magnificent evening and there is nothing better than being entertained by our own. Thank you Jackie Taylor for bringing music to our club. Event co-chairs Nancy Giachino and Susan Travis did an outstanding job. Thank you both.

Our next Entertainment Committee event is the Commodore’s Picnic on Labor Day, September 2nd. This year it really WILL be a picnic! Picnic tables, grass, outdoor games and music! The Commodore has insisted we go all out for a great family fun time on Angel Island. It might not be as easy as just walking up the club ramp, but it will be worth it! Chef Ian has a great menu planned and the event team is revved up! Sharon Barr is the event chair with Torild Roberts Paula Hansson and Teresa Prescott running our games and entertainment. Several boats will be going Sunday to Ayala Cove to snag moorings and others will be available to help ferry us to the island. If you have a boat you may volunteer to take passengers or catch a ride with someone, otherwise the Tiburon Ferry will be running to and from. Judging from the great times we have had on previous picnics on the island, you don’t want to miss this one!

This year’s Commodore’s Ball on September 28th is going to be really groovy baby! Our theme is Austin Powers – Shag me baby! Yes, we’re going back in time to the 60s and 70s to celebrate our youth with dinner and dance music from that era courtesy of the famous Shagadelics! For some, this may be the time they were born. For others it may have been a time when they just didn’t understand the music or the youth of the time. But now for all of us, its time for a party! This is going to be a blast from the past! Chairing this shagadelic dance extravaganza are none other than Brenda “Twiggy” Buckerfield and Valli “GoGo” Bedey with artistic assistance by Paula Hansson. Yes, you can come in black tie looking like James Bond or why not go a little wild like Austin Powers, the International Man of Mystery or Dr. Evil? Either way, strap in (or on) for a guaranteed good time!
