Even The Commodore Had A Ball!

By Doug Owen

And so did everyone else in attendance at the annual Commodore's Ball, held on October 27th.

The theme of the black tie event was a Monte Carlo Night, with all proceeds from gambling going to the Red Cross. From the champagne reception with hors d'oeuvres beginning at 1800 hours, the gaming tables remained consistently crowded until dinner was served at 1930. The casino company hired for the event fielded a team of eleven dealers to keep the tables going, no matter how hard some of us tried to wear them out! During this time, DJ Mike Keating, playing a good mix of music to keep things lively, provided further entertainment.

Frances Ramage and the staff interpreted Event Chair Nancy Giachino' s ideas for the evening beautifully, as is always the case. The table settings in fall colors and the floral centerpieces (which I hear Nancy arranged herself!) made the ballroom come alive, and with everyone dressed in their best, it truly was like.being in Monte Carlo!

This event honored not only Commodore Bogue, but also the seventy previous Commodores that have guided CYC throughout our history.

Following dinner, The Real Band took over with live music, keeping the dance floor packed until 2300 hours. It was truly a memorable evening.

If you're reading this because you missed being there, and if you enjoy seeing our Club at it's finest, don't make the mistake of missing out again next year!
