New Member's Reception
By Doug Owen
In a continuing effort to bring new members into Club activities and make them welcome among the membership, the Membership Committee and Board of Directors again hosted a New Member's Reception and Dock Party on Saturday, October 20th.
In addition to meeting and mingling, the theme of the event was an "Open Boat" party, with beverages and hors d' oeuvres available at tables set up on each dock. New members divided into small groups, and were escorted on the Club docks by docents (as in board & committee members) that brought each group to hosting boats for a short visit and inspection. With different types of boats open, and different outlooks of their owners, the result was multiple views of enjoyment "on the water."
Vessels that were open to the new members were: Always Home, Fat Chance, La Calou, Ruthless, Sirius, Trekroner and Triton. Long-time and new members alike were heard to remark that it was the best new member's party that anyone could recall, because it showcased our common interest - boating on the Bay!
In the past year, we have welcomed aboard 29 new Regular Members, plus 11 new members in the Associate, Junior, Race & Crew categories, bringing our current total membership to 580!
So the question is, why do we keep seeing the same 75 people? There are a lot of wonderful and interesting Corinthians in our membership, so use your Club facilities, meet some interesting people as you widen your circle of friends, and volunteer for a committee.become involved!!
