From the Junior Staff Commodore

By John Bogue

October 3rd marked the beginning of a fantastic cruise to the Delta Yacht Club for a couple of days and then on to Tinsley. Accolades to Sally Huse for arranging the Delta YC portion of this great trip and special thanks to Bill Stucky, Tari Nix and all those who assisted on the Tinsley end. Yes, the Corinthians did it again! We ran away with the volleyball championship and won two of three places in the table-decorating contest. Congratulations are in order to the "A" team, and to our creative members Paula Hansson and Marlene and Cliff Donoho who so cleverly decorated their tables.

While many of us were away on the cruise, the RCP Tiburon Mile Swim occurred at the Club. All participants swam from Angel Island to the shore in front of Tiburon Tommy's. Many thanks to Matthew Gorton, John and Rosalind Colver and other volunteers who helped make this community activity such a rewarding experience (see article later in this issue).

The annual E. Ross Wood Regatta, marking the end of the year's club racing schedule, took place on Saturday, October 20.

Following the race a group of new members were welcomed at a reception on the dock in front of Pneumonia Alley. Board and Membership Committee members escorted the new members to a number of boats on various lines of the dock, where they were invited on board to visit with many CYC members. Hats off to Membership Chair Anita Dillon for arranging this party and special thanks to our gracious hosts and hostesses who provided "open boats" for the afternoon.

Sincere appreciation goes to Nancy Giachino for organizing an outstanding Commodores' Ball - Monte Carlo Night. What a party! With fun and camaraderie at gaming tables, good prizes, exquisite table centerpieces, great music, excellent food and wine, who could ask for anything more? The proceeds from the games totaled $600, which was sent to the American Red Cross Relief Fund. Nancy, many thanks for all your efforts.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Flag Officers, Board Members, all committee members and additional volunteers who have assisted me in a myriad of ways in my role as commodore throughout the year. We have had a very successful year and I have each of you to thank for that.

Please join me in congratulating and supporting the newly elected Flag Officers, Board members, and Committee Chairs! On behalf of all your friends at CYC, best wishes to the new Board for a banner year in 2002! Thank you for the privilege of serving as your commodore.
