Delta Yacht Club Cruise

By Sally Huse, Cruise Leader

What a great way to start the last cruise of the season, the pre-Tinsley warm-up. Eleven boats were at Delta Yacht Club on Wednesday. On Thursday some left, others arrived for a total of 18 boats. The boats ranged in size from the Koopman's fabulous looking 18 foot cat boat to Finkelstein's 50 foot sailing yacht and Schwartz' 53 foot power yacht. Three flag officers were in attendance, the Commodore, the Vice Commodore and the Rear Commodore, none on their own boats, however.

Many were happy to get in the pool on Wednesday to cool off from their voyage and the warm weather. It was HOT. The weather cooled off on Thursday but was still very pleasant. The BBQing was a warm-up exercise for the major scene at Tinsley on Friday and Saturday. During cocktail hour, I introduced everyone - easy to do with a small group, impossible with the crowd at Tinsley. I also did a reading about fending off, similar to the readings I used to do at Tinsley in the old days.

Helgoland was the first boat to leave both Delta Yacht Club and Tinsley Island; we even beat Parodi. The first boat back to CYC was Paco II, one of the fastest boats in the fleet
