The Corinthian Women
By Nancy Giachino
The Corinthian Women met on November 14 in the club library, and an unprecedented number were in attendance, and all were warmly welcomed. Preparations for the upcoming holiday season were reviewed. The Egg Nog Party, which was held on December 1, was again a great success. This event is always very well attended, and everyone enjoys tasting the different appetizers that members bring to the event. Champagne servers kept busy pouring bubbly throughout the evening.
Paula Hanson once again supervised the tree decorating party held on November 27. As usual, Paula has done a wonderful job and everyone appreciates all her efforts as well as those of her helper "elves". Decorating assistance is needed on December 9 for the annual visit of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Decorators will meet at 9 A.M. at the clubhouse. Plan to come and join in this fun and creative endeavor! Toys for Tots will benefit from this event. Participants should bring unwrapped gifts to donate and also wrapped and labeled gifts for your children.
We have lots of fabulous new merchandise in the club store. Store hours are December 7th and 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Keep in mind the proceeds from the store are gifted back to the club on a yearly basis. Be sure to visit the store and check off those gift items on your Christmas list. Samples of new store merchandise were previewed at our TCW meeting and met with great approval. Our store just keeps getting better and better! Shop early so you have a wide choice of size and color selections.
Plans are well underway for the New Year's Eve Gala, "Carnival of Venice - A Masked Ball". If you haven't already made your reservations, give the office a call soon, since CYC New Year parties are a regular "sell out". With Esther Lerner Carrico serving as event chairperson, this year promises to be unique, elegant and highly successful.
All Corinthian women are invited to our annual meeting on December 12 at 6:30 P.M. in the club bar. This is a social event and we hope many of you will plan to attend.
2001 has been another great year for The Corinthian Women. Once again we have served the Corinthian Yacht Club with distinction by helping to organize many of the major activities and events held at the club. It is an honor and a privilege for each of us to serve as board members and officers of this great organization.
