Eight Bells

Evan Pugh, who served as Commodore in 1985, passed away on June 18 from complications following a stroke. Evan held degrees from Stanford University and Tamalpais High School and served as an officer in the Marine Corps in the Pacific theatre in WWII.

Evan was an active racer and cruiser on his Tartan Ten but is most remembered while Commodore in 1985 for organizing the Pelicans, a group of Pneumonia Alley men with talent in engineering and contruction who fixed major structural deterioration on the clubhouse.

In addition to his exemplary service to our Club, he served as Secretary at the St. Francis YC and Rear Commodore of the Cruising Club of America. Evan is survived by his wife, Barbara, a daughter, Nancy Norstad, and a granddaughter, Francesca Norstad.
