Rear Commodore's Report

by Cliff Donoho

June has been a busy month on the water. We hosted the start of the Single Handed Transpac, the Master Mariners Wooden Boat show, the CYC/TYC Friendship Regatta, ran ODCA races last Saturday, and had a well-attended Cruise to Benecia.

On July 13th, we host the Angel Island Cup, chaired this year by John Bogue. Check out the Club web site at www.cychistory.org, for race signups and results, information on future Regattas and Cruises, photos, and other news. It’s all there, thanks to Bruce Powell.

Our Race Chairman Michael Moradzadeh is sailing to Hawaii July 8th on the Pacific Cup, which leaves the Race Committee in my hands until late in August. I will be looking for volunteers to help with the Race Committee. We do have an excellent and dedicated committee group, but the summer months offer many competing activities, which sometimes take priority over our Friday night series.

Race Committee service is a great activity for newer members, or longer-term members that are not well acquainted in the Club. It is an easy and fun way to make new friends, learn something new, get a free drink, and realize a sense of involvement with your Club.

See you on the water, or the Race deck.
