Thoughts on Membership

by Doug Owen

As with any member-supported organization, there is always a question as to how to bring in new members to keep membership at a level that will fund all of the privileges that we have come to enjoy by virtue of our own membership.

Honestly now, don’t you feel a little privileged when you drive through the entrance to CYC? Walking up to the Clubhouse and being greeted by other members and staff alike, people you have come to know…it’s a very comfortable and enjoyable feeling; you look forward to being there.

What first attracted you to become a CYC member? How many wonderful and sustaining friendships have occurred as a result? Isn’t your life and your leisure time, perhaps your boating knowledge, richer as a result?

What friends or associates do you know with whom you would like to share this experience? When you walk through those doors on a Friday evening or for a Sunday Brunch, what non-members would you like to see there, to spend time with? The opportunity exists for you to share the enjoyment of your Club with special people in your life.

You, the membership, are our best resource for new members; you enjoy what you have found here, and through word of mouth, you have the chance to bring this enjoyment to others, as you insure the future of CYC.
