Vice Commodore’s Column

By Ron Roberts

Mark your calendars. The date for the Seafood Extravaganza has been changed to August 25. Remember, this event will be by reservation only as we need to order enough food. Please remember, try and make your reservations as soon as you can for this event and whenever else you want to have dinner at the club.

I am sorry to have to report that members are continuing to abuse their parking privileges at the Club. Please be advised that all members who do so will receive disciplinary action. Especially harsh measures will be taken against members who let non-members into the parking lot. Anyone who witnesses a member allowing a non-member to use the parking lot should contact me immediately.

The bar will begin to offer higher priced wines by the glass on Friday and Saturday evenings. These will be posted by means of small signs placed on the tabletops in the bar. The policy is that a new bottle of some of our newer and higher priced wines may be opened on Friday or Saturday for individual glasses with the expectation that it will be consumed before the end of the weekend. The bartenders will have discretion as to when to open such a new bottle of wine in accordance with this policy.

We will also begin offering some additional snacks at the bar between the afternoon hours of 2 and 6. In addition to the ever-popular Corinthian Burger and fries, we will be offering some additional snacks to make it more convenient to have a little bite to eat between meals without having to go down the street. The new Bar Menu will also be posted on the tabletops in the bar. Special thanks to Cindy Marques who made this happen.
