Sailor of the Year: Marcia Peck
by Herb Meyer
At our recent Annual Meeting, Marcia Peck was honored as this year's recipient of the "Sailor of the Year" award. The award is given to those members who exemplify excellence in seamanship and Corinthian spirit, and is selected by a committee of peers -- former recipients of the same award.
As a sailor and club member, Marcia Peck stands tall. Her racing resume includes wins in many regattas, including the Cal 20 Bay championship, the Pacific Coast Women's Melges Championship, the Double-handed Farralones and Lightship Races, the Vallejo Race, Horsfall Regatta, CYC Women's Regatta and Midwinters to name a few.
In addition to Marcias on-the-water accomplishments, she has served as Secretary for Corinthian Yacht Club, president of TCW, and has been a YRA Delegate. She has produced 10 scrapbooks, chronicling the activities of CYC over the years and is a major contributor to the TELLTALE with photographs of club events and her column, Who Are Those Guys?
Marcia's accomplishments and involvement as a member of Corinthian Yacht Club show that, in some way, she has touched each and every member of our Club. She has put our Club name forward into the world of sailing honoring not only the Corinthian Yacht Club, but also women in sailing. Marcia Peck is truly deserving of the honor of Sailor of the Year.
