The Midwinter Regatta

The Corinthian Yacht Club is pleased to host the 2002 Midwinter Regatta, the best midwinter regatta on the Bay!! Sign ups for teams will be accepted up until the first warning gun on January 19. Get your team together and enjoy some great team racing!!

Racing will be held as usual on 4 days over 2 weekends: January 19-20, and February 16-17.

and LOTS of FUN!
This year’s regatta promises to be in the tradition of previous years, with great class racing, great TEAM racing, free beer, live bands, great food and lots of fun, all for a great value. More than 120 boats have already signed up!

Regatta trophies will be presented on February 17 for each class, along with the AOTEA Team Trophy, Best Performance Overall, and Best Performance by a Corinthian. There will be daily awards at the end of each day of racing.

This year features the following special attractions:

  • America’s Cup Class Fleet Racing!! We currently have 3 IACC boats entered to race in the February weekend.
     
  • Kame Richards of Pineapple Sails will give his famous presentation on Currents in the Bay at 9:30am on Sunday, January 20!! Free coffee will be served.
     
  • Peter Hogg, crewmember on PlayStation on their recent record breaking run across the Atlantic (and CYC Staff Commodore), will give a presentation on his journey at 9:30am on Sunday, February 17. Peter has some great video, including shots of an airborne 125’ catamaran!! Free coffee will be served.
     
  • A free keg of beer on Saturday January 19 afternoon will be provided courtesy of MDS Erectors, Inc. of San Leandro. If you see Jan Borjeson on board Basic Instinct, thank him for sponsoring this!!
     
  • Free beer in February will be provided courtesy of Pyramid Alehouse, Brewery and Restaurant in Berkeley. If you see Sally Richards of Pineapple Sails, thank her for coordinating this!!
     
  • The Bay Area Blues Society will provide the music on January 19, starting at 6:00pm, so bring your dancing shoes!
