The Corinthian Women
by Nancy Giachino
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived by boat on December 9th to an eagerly awaiting Christmas Party crowd of 70 children and 200 adults. Many thanks to Lynne Richardson and Brenda Buckerfield for coordinating this festive event!
The children and elves enjoyed the craft making and marionette show followed by a personal visit with Santa, who gave each of them a special gift. Many of the children helped make the gingerbread houses that served as the centerpieces for the party. Paula Hansson and her helpers decked the halls with Boughs of Holly. This decorative atmosphere combined with a delicious and beautifully presented brunch, eased everyone into the Spirit of Christmas. This years event was truly exceptional! And
. by the way, Chef Ian deserves special credit for providing delicious treats to the volunteer party decorators.
Our representative to this years annual meeting was Marie Jorajuria, who noted that TCW would be providing financial assistance for several club renovation projects.
TCW held its last meeting of 2001 on December 20th. Approximately 30 Corinthian Women were in attendance to witness the passing of the gavel from current President, Esther Lerner-Carrico, to our new President, Teresa Prescott.
Commodore Dan Carrico briefly addressed the group and applauded our service to the club during the past year. Esther Lerner Carrico then reviewed past year activities and presented a gift and special thank you to Frances Ramage for her work assisting TCW. Each TCW Board Member was also honored with a special gift. As her last TCW Presidential Act, Esther then delighted those present with a song written for The Corinthian Women by Marcia Peck. Thank you Esther for a most productive and fun filled year!
Teresa Prescott was then formally welcomed as our new President. She introduced the following new or returning Officers and Board Members: Vice President Karen Gilbert, Secretary Sharon Barr, Treasurer Marie Jorajuria, Board Members, Edwina Serventi, Paula Hansson, Susan Travis, Janet Nooteboom, Loretta Madden,
Teri Nicks, Beverly Dunn, Jane Elkins, Karen Rosenbaum, and Sandra Solomon.
Two of Teresas goals for this year are to encourage greater participation by women in boating events and support of the club store. We all wish Teresa the best of luck leading The Corinthian Women during 2002.
As a reminder, TCW meets the third Wednesday of each month and all Corinthian women are invited to attend. Meetings are most often held in the library, but feel free to call the office to confirm the meeting location. TCW is an exciting organization, a great way to get involved in the club and a whole lot of fun!
