Delta Yacht Club Cruise

by Sally Huse

The Delta Yacht Club Cruise was another successful trip with some interesting twists or should it be an interesting trip with some successful twists.

The weather was great. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. The two days were spent enjoying the pool, fishing, boat hopping, visiting, relaxing, drinking, eating and getting ready for Tinsley. We had a record turnout for Thursday night with 20 boats and 66 people in attendance. I think there were 5 golfers on the island, some pros and some first timers. Many took a long walk on the island, almost down to Tinsley, and saw a large herd of goats. They were able to pet them.

There was a contingent who came over from Tinsley in a runabout to join us for the cocktail hour. They should have stayed for dinner; we had a fun evening. I read the poem “Prepare to Fend Off!!!” (you can get a copy at the Club office). This year’s fish story belongs to Leif Gistrand. The previous owner of his boat left fishing gear on board and Barbro bought a fishing license good for catching any type of fish. This was to be his first fishing experience and he was successful, catching 3 catfish. When the Rodricks arrived, Wilma settled right in to fish and caught 6 catfish.

HELGOLAND left early Friday morning for the short run to Tinsley. We thought of Steve Parodi when we left early. Someone has to keep up the “early bird” tradition. We missed Steve as well as others who were unable to make the trip this year.
