Meet The New “Kids” On The Dock

by Mary Ellen Wetlesen

We all remember what it is like to be the new “kids” on the block, or should I say dock. One of the reasons that the Corinthian Yacht Club is so special is because everyone is friendly and makes you feel welcome. In this spirit of camaraderie, let’s get to know some of our newer members:

Ted and Anna West

We have lived in Tiburon for 16 years, where we have raised our two sons, David (a senior at NYU) and Jonathan (a freshman at Linfield College in Oregon). We are avid downhill skiers, hikers/campers, and now sailors. Anna is a Principal of Kearns and West, a public affairs consulting firm in San Francisco. I am the CEO and Founder of Colarity, an enterprise software company in Berkeley. I am also a director and advisor to other early stage companies.

Our sailing history began in Boston Harbor over 20 years ago. I learned to sail on Solings, started racing on J-24’s and graduated to bareboat yachting in the waters around New England, and then ultimately in the Caribbean. Anna and I really enjoy sailing in the British Virgin Islands.
We have always wanted to join a sailing club near home and waited until there was more time and opportunity to own and moor a boat locally. We are very happy with the CYC community of avid boaters, who also enjoy a good party!

Pat Goss and Dale Weibel

We live in Palo Alto and have been married for twelve years. Our four children are grown. Dale is a dentist in Redwood City and I am a management consultant in Mountain View. We look forward to spending more time in Tiburon and on our new boat, a Hunter 356 named Belle Amie.

Dale began sailing while in dental school in Sausalito when he owned a Rhodes 19. More recently, we had been partners in a Uniflite 36 in Newport Beach. We were members of the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, but Dale was anxious to return to sailing on the Bay.

Several members of the Bahia Corinthian suggested the CYC, as did member Marie Jorajuria, who is a patient of Dale’s. We knew on our first visit that we had found the right place. Everyone is so friendly. I am very excited to be learning to sail for the first time and enjoy being a member of the Corinthian Women.
