The Endless Summer Tinsley Cruise

by Bill Stucky

I think everyone would agree that this years cruise to Tinsley Island was great fun. With only 8 boats from the San Francisco YC and 35 or so from the Corinthian there was lots of space to party on. We were fortunate that the weather improved on Saturday from the 25 knot blow on Friday’s arrival.

Thanks to Trip Ames and Bill Canada for hosting the Surf’s Up Bar on Friday night with those famous martinis they are so fond of. Dr Eric Artman supplied the music for the evening, many thanks.

A line formed early at the back of Herb and Wilma’s boat, Sea Circus, where a wonderful salmon breakfast awaited. The crowd turned a bit ugly when it was announced that the bloody marys that were scheduled to be delivered by the Encinal YC hadn’t left the dock back in Oakland.

Great news! The CYC volleyball team has brought back the trophy winning easily over the San Francisco YC. Thanks to Ester our great couch. Our new Commodore Cliff and his partner Bill won the bocce ball contest, but don’t bring up their win with Mr. Carrico.

I’ve forgotten who won the horseshoe match…..

There was a bit of bad news…. We lost a blender at the Maui Bob’s Pina Colada bar, we were fortunate that 3 blenders survived. Thanks to my crew; Alan, Ben, Will, Mr. Eagan, Dr. Johnson and of course the beautiful waitress’s including sweet Kim and Sharon.

After a wonderful BBQ winners were announced for the table decoration contest. This years theme; a day at the beach. Thanks to my 4 wonderful judges. Next year’s theme; Cowboys and Indians.

Best Lame Excuse for not attending the Tinsley Cruise was awarded to Harry Blake, something about having misplaced his boat up north. Special thanks to Marshall from the SFYC and Amber Nix for their hard work on the event.

See you next year. (see more photos here)
