The Corinthian Women
by Alix Fagerstén
The Corinthian Women hosted the second annual Womens Skippered Regatta [click here for more photos] on Sunday, September 7th. In total, 9 boats competed
all with women skippers on board. The event was a huge success thanks to the hard work of event chair Jane Elkins. We also owe a round of applause to the some of the gentlemen who so graciously made their boats available for this event: Dan Carricos Aria was on the bay and Julle LeVicki had both Smögen III and Chica in the race. The start and finish were expertly recorded by Michael Moradzadeh and the rest of our fabulous race committee including Aaron DeZafra, Karl Belgum, André Klein and Rich Lauman we owe them all a cocktail for sure.
So who won the regatta this year, you ask? Not surprisingly, Marcia Peck and Kay Rudiger came in first place as co-skippers sailing on Raccoon. Second place went to Chica and third place to Peer Gynt VI. I sailed on Smögen III for the second year in a row and although Smögen III corrected to fifth place, we did get the gun this year! Following the race, there was a wonderful wine and cheese reception along with an award ceremony on the club deck.
The holidays are quickly approaching and the Corinthian Women are in need of volunteers to help deck the halls of the Corinthian. This year we will be decorating the club on December 3rd so, join us for a fun evening of Holiday Decorating and Cheer. If you have never helped to decorate the club in the past, youve missed out on a lot of fun as we transform our grand old clubhouse to a winter wonderland.
Mark you calendars
The Egg Nog Party, aptly renamed by some members as the I love that Egg Nog Party, will be held on December 6th. And Santas Brunch, always a sold-out favorite among adults and children will be held on December 14th. Remember to RSVP to the brunch early as this is one event not to be missed.
The Corinthian Women meet the second Wednesday of every month in the club library at 6:30 PM. All Corinthian women are welcome and encouraged to join the fun! The Corinthian Women is a great organization and a wonderful way to meet new friends and get involved in the club!
